Techno-Economic Analyst (f/m/x)

Permanent employee, Full-time · Essen

Are you ready to save the planet?
We will help prevent a climate crisis by freeing the world from fossil fuels. Our breakthrough direct air capture (DAC) technology captures CO2 from the atmosphere and produces hydrogen in parallel. The clock is ticking. What are you waiting for?
At Greenlyte Carbon Technologies, we are scaling our DAC process and continuously evaluating how to make it more efficient, cost-effective, and compatible with renewable energy systems. As a Techno-Economic Analyst, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of our technology by supporting detailed techno-economic assessments and exploring synergies between downstream syngas processes and our DAC systems.
How you'll contribute
Specifically, you will...
  • Support the development of comprehensive techno-economic analyses for DAC and syngas-related technologies.
  • Conduct technical assessments of syngas downstream processes and identify integration opportunities with our DAC or syngas systems.
  • Perform detailed cost breakdowns of subunits and components using scientific literature, supplier data, and industrial benchmarks.
  • Analyze buffering concepts to evaluate how our technology can integrate directly with renewable energy sources via DC-DC coupling.

Your First 12 Months in the Role: Expectations and Deliverables

Months 0–3

  • Develop a deep understanding of Greenlyte’s DAC and syngas technologies, including system boundaries and key technical components.

  • Gather and organize benchmark data from literature, suppliers, and industry reports for cost modeling.

  • Begin assessing syngas downstream processes and identify integration opportunities with DAC or syngas units.

  • Support early evaluations of buffering concepts for renewable energy integration via DC-DC coupling.

Months 3–6

  • Deliver initial techno-economic breakdowns of key DAC and syngas subsystems, including CAPEX and OPEX elements.

  • Complete technical assessments of at least two syngas downstream pathways, with integration feasibility summaries.

  • Develop first-generation TEA models for DAC and syngas integration scenarios.

  • Quantify performance and cost impacts of buffering strategies under variable renewable energy supply conditions.

Months 6–12

  • Finalize a comprehensive TEA report comparing multiple DAC + syngas configurations across deployment scales.

  • Implement a modular, updatable TEA framework for ongoing internal and external use.

  • Recommend design optimizations based on techno-economic findings, including system simplifications and cost reduction levers.

  • Contribute to cross-functional planning by informing hardware and deployment strategies with TEA outputs.

  • Begin mentoring newer team members in TEA methodology and integration strategy.

About you
You bring...
  • A degree in chemical engineering, process engineering, energy systems, or a related technical field.
  • Experience in techno-economic or process modeling, ideally in a chemical, energy, or clean-tech environment.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex technical and economic data.
  • Familiarity with cost estimation methodologies and sourcing supplier data.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to communicate technical findings clearly to a diverse team.
  • Proficiency in Excel and/or relevant modeling tools; Python or MATLAB is a plus.
What we offer
  • 30 days of vacation plus public holidays.
  • A steep learning curve and the opportunity to grow into more senior roles.
  • An open culture with direct access to founders and cross-functional teams.
  • Support for relocation if you’re not yet based near Essen.
  • The opportunity to work on one of the most pressing challenges of our time.
Noteworthy points
This role is on-site and requires regular presence at our facility in Essen. We welcome candidates who are local or open to relocating – and we’re happy to help with that.
About us
GCT was founded in September 2022 with the ambition to develop a low-cost, robust Direct Air Capture technology that captures CO2 at world-leading energy rates, whilst supplying hydrogen as a by-product. The company’s technology is based on 15 years of research and has been proven at various scales. Since its founding, the company raised 45-million Euros in funding from leading venture capitalists and renowned business angels.
