Senior Design Engineer (f/m/x)

Permanent employee, Full-time · Essen

Are you ready to save the planet?
We will help prevent a climate crisis by freeing the world from fossil fuels. Our breakthrough direct air capture technology captures CO2 from the atmosphere and produces hydrogen in parallel.

The clock is ticking. What are you waiting for?
How you'll contribute
You'll play a crucial role in our engineering team, bringing your deep experience in plant engineering (Anlagenbau) / special machinery construction (Sondermaschinenbau) and pilot plant development which supports our broader company goals.

Here's what the first 12 months in the role could look like:

Months 0-3: Your initial focus will be on translating Balance-of-Plant concepts into CAD models and design concepts, reflecting assembly, maintenance, and operating principles in line with plant engineering standards. You'll select and integrate components to ensure synchronization and choose materials suited to our unique process conditions, collaborating with material experts from component suppliers.

Months 3-6: Transitioning from design to reality, you'll become integral in turning CAD models into a physical plant study. This phase involves supporting the assembly of parts, addressing design challenges, and custom-designing components as needed.

Months 6-12: During this phase you’ll translate the design study into a commercial project with a clear roadmap towards industrialization. You'll tackle "scale-up" plant studies, engage with customers and investors, lead "design-to-manufacturing" projects for mission-critical components, and mentor a team of junior designers through rigorous and rapid design cycles.
About you
  • You are an experienced engineer with extensive experience in the pre-development of plant engineering (Anlagenbau) or special machinery construction (Sondermaschinenbau) projects, especially those involving liquid mediums.

  • A problem solver with a hands-on mentality, eager to lead projects from inception to pilot production.
  • Fluent in English, with German skills being a significant advantage.
  • Willing to occasionally travel and work on-site as needed, with relocation support available.
What we offer
  • 30 days of vacation plus public holidays.
  • Access to the latest work tools and technologies.
  • A culture of mentorship and open communication, where your ideas and contributions directly influence our direction and success.
